Hey, I had to comment on this because the Asylum Street Spankers live in my hometown (Austin.) They have changed a lot over the years, it seems. They used to be sort of a 20's era, slap-bass and drum group. They had this cool guy with shades in the back named "Silent John," and the lead singer's name was John Forsyth (but he's gone solo, now.) They've always liked to do humor, though. They took that old song, "Smoke, Smoke, Smoke that Cigarette," and changed it to "Roll Me Up a Funny Cigarette." They used to sing "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime," and a lot of other really old songs you don't hear elsewhere. They're one of those unique bands that you find in this town.
